Wittenstein, Joseph- 94, passed away at his home on March 21, 2008. Surrounded by family and friends, he spent his last moments smiling and waving.
As his physical condition weakened, his love and warmth toward his friends and family strengthened. His sense of humor began to show a clever, quick softness.
Husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, philanthropist, life-long Orlandoan, proud member of the Jewish Community, his life was rich and full.
The boy, then man, who had always met his obligations and responsibilities to the fullest degree, was able to let go and embrace his end with dignity and a graceful ease. He was a lucky man in many respects, to which Joseph would have been quick to add, "The harder I work, the luckier I get."
Joseph would agree that he did a pretty good job for a farmboy from Fairvilla.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, March 24, 2008 in Congregation Ohev Shalom Cemetery, 6000 Old Winter Garden Road, Orlando.
Arrangements by Newcomer Family Funeral Home, Orlando, FL 407-277-4227.
