Josephine Christina Stroot-Borys passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Friday, August 26, 2016 in her home surrounded by family. Originally from Colwich, Kansas, Josephine attended Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas. She studied Medical Records at Artesia General Hospital, located in New Mexico, where she worked from 1949-1952. She later became the Medical Record Liberian for Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1953. It was there that she met the love of her life and husband, John Richard Borys, of 62 years.
In 1954, John was assigned to the Washington D.C. FBI office and together they married and resided in the Virginia-Metro area. Josephine continued her employment with the National Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in Arlington, Virginia until 1957, where she then became self-employed as a medical records administrator and consultant.
Upon retirement, Josephine and John relocated to the Central Florida area to be with their only daughter, Barbara, son-in-law Colin Morgan and their two granddaughters, Christina and Nicole. As a devote Catholic, Josephine was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Debary, where she volunteered for over 15 years and developed long-lasting friendships and memories. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus #6584.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents John and Christina Stroot and her four siblings, Julius, Katherine, Martha and Johnny. She is survived by her husband, John Borys, 92, and her daughter, Barbara Morgan, 58.
Josephine was an avid animal-lover, especially to the family's rescue dog, Bailey. We ask that in lieu of flowers, please make any contributions possible to thePet Alliance of Greater Orlando: http://petallianceorlando.org/
