Josephine Garcia

Josephine Garcia, age 90, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at AdventHealth Orlando Hospice.

 She was born on October 14, 1934 in Morovis, PR, daughter to her late parents Jose and Rosa (Marerro) Figueroa.

She was an incredible mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  She was also a source of wisdom and the life of the party.  Above all, her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and spending time with her beloved bird, “Pepito," a stunningly colorful in both plumage and personality Sun Conure (a small member of the parrot family). Josephine attended St. James Catholic Cathedral, and was a proud member of the choir, where she felt a purpose and belonging through the fellowship and teamwork of the choir. She will be missed! 

Josephine is survived by her four children, son, William Garcia and his wife, Minerva, of Laurel, MD, daughter, Carmen Santiago and her husband, Juan, of Orlando, daughter, Lillian Garcia and her husband, Julio, of San Juan, PR, and son, Jimmy Garcia and his wife, Nydia, of Fredericksburg, VA; eight grandchildren, Guillermo “Will” Garcia, Christina Ticas, Monica Garcia, Jeanette Rocha, Lillian Torres, Omar Castro, Julio Castro, Jr., Teresa Colunga, and Joseph Garcia; sixteen great-grandchildren, Amanda Rocha, Alyssa Rocha, Isabella Rocha, Cassandra Rocha, Mykayla Rocha, Brianna Garcia, Gabrielle Garcia, Yanira Garcia, Nathaniel Ticas, Elena Ticas, Kevin Torres, Lyanmaris Torres, Julio C. Castro, Josue Castro, Jeriel Castro, and Yabdiel Castro; three great great-grandchildren, Omashalyz Castro, Amelia Coste, and Amayah Coste; a brother, Angel Figueroa and his wife, Nitza Haddock, and a sister, Leticia Rodriguez and her husband, Sammy Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Miguel Garcia; a son, Miguel Garcia; and six siblings, brother, Sergio Figueroa, sister, Cecilia Colon, sister, Minerva Cruz, brother, Jose Figueroa, Jr., brother, Manuel Figueroa, and brother, Carlos Figueroa. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando.

 Visitation will precede the service on Thursday, December 19, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. 

 Interment will be in Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, FL.
