Joshua Zook

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joshua Michael Zook, who left us too soon on April 3, 2025, at the age of 34.

Born on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 1990, Josh had a spirit of warmth and generosity that never dimmed. True to his birthday, he loved giving gifts and sharing what he had. If his friends or brothers liked something that Josh owned, they usually found it in their own closets within the week.

From an early age, Josh loved being creative and working with his hands. His passion for building started with Legos and Transformers and only grew stronger with time. His childhood joy turned into a lifelong talent for fixing things and solving problems. As an adult, he found purpose and pride in his work as a handyman, where he used his skills to help others in practical, meaningful ways.

Josh grew up with a deep love for music. It was a passion that started early and never faded. He was an early adopter of Napster, and he was always on the hunt for new songs and the next great band. Music was a constant source of connection and joy that he shared with his friends and family, even with his country-music loving mother. And at the center of it all was his favorite band: Guns & Roses. With his favorite songs from them being Welcome to the Jungle, November Rain, and Patience.

Sports were also an important part of Josh’s life. He played soccer, baseball, and football growing up, but it was basketball that captured his heart. Josh enjoyed playing pick up games with his brothers and was also an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Falcons.

He is survived by many who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts, including his mother, Holly Rogers, his father, Ron Zook, and his brothers, Clay Zook and Wyatt Rogers. Josh was the glue that kept the three brothers close and made them laugh. He was the first to beat- up his younger brothers, but he was the first to stand up and protect them fiercely.

Also carrying his memory forward are Josh’s stepparents, maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and nephews.

A celebration of Josh’s life will be held on Good Friday, April 18th at 6:30 PM at Eastland Baptist Church where stories, music, and memories will be shared in his honor. It is located at 9000 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, Florida 32825. We also encourage friends and family to join the celebration by wearing Josh’s favorite color, red.

In keeping with Josh’s generous spirit, his family encourages organ donations as a way to carry on his legacy of helping others. Even in passing, Joshua has given the gift of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Josh’s honor to the Husky Haven of Florida@ https://www.huskyhavenfl.org/

Rest in Peace, Joshua. Your life was a gift, and you left a mark that time will never ease.
