Joy I. Case

June 25, 1936 — July 28, 2022

Joy Isobel Case peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on the afternoon of July 28, 2022 at the glorious age of 86.

Born the youngest of 10 children to Adolphus and Clara Case on April 25, 1936, in Alva Alexandria Jamaica, she attended the Charlton Alexandria Primary School. She is currently survived by her sister Adel (Case) Gooden. Before settling in Brooklyn, NY where she was a resident for almost 50 years, Ms. Case first emigrated to Toronto, Canada where she lived with her 2 sisters and family.

Ms. Case is survived by her five children: Patrick Case (wife Patricia), Garfield Bailey (wife Cassandra), Nadine Bailey, Glenroy Case (wife Lane), and Andrew Case. Her seven grandchildren: Kassim, Yanique, Allyana, Gabrielle, Rachelle, Joshua and Ahsan, as well as three great grandchildren, Jahzara, Raniece and Chloe. She is also the aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews that reside in the US, Jamaica, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

She worked for a child-psychologist and author for over 40 years in Manhattan until she retired. As a child of the Lord, she was always active and served her church in various capacities. At her most prominent home, the Lenox Road Baptist Church, she served as a Deaconess and also called, prayed, and visited with many members. As an active member, she was fortunate to visit many places, including Senegal, which she would describe as life changing that all should experience.

Joy will forever be remembered for her smile, laugh and love of life. She loved her family immensely and her mood would brighten when she would discuss her children or grandchildren to other family and friends when she spoke about them. This was evidenced by the assortment of pictures of those that meant so much to her that adorned her home. As a family historian, she would share many family stories and help tie the family lines about how other persons were related to her family. She will be sorely missed by all that loved or was able to know her as she was an indelible light in her family's life.

Funeral arrangements will be held Saturday August 6, 2022 at the Lenox Road Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY - there will be a viewing from 10-11 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The internment will be held after the service at the Cypress Hills Cemetery.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Joy Case's memory to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.dementiasociety.org/donate

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-13
