Joyce Waldon Bright age 72, of Orlando, Florida passed away of natural causes at home on Friday, August 27, 2021. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 3, 1949 and preceded in death by her Father, Charles Alphonso Waldon Jr., Mother, Dorothy Hayes Rolle and a very supportive aunt, Pancheta H. Levarity.
She is survived by her Son, Michael Bernard Bright (Tarshica); 5 Brothers and 6 Sisters: Samuel J. Waldon (Sandy), Charles A. Waldon III (Sheila), Vicky Johnson, Glenda Anderson (Gregory), Trinette Rolle, Vincent Rolle (Araceli), Kelvin Rolle (deceased) Latishia, Lavara Rolle (Cyndi), Rhoda Rolle-Saunders(Stanley-deceased), Tia Rolle-Bryce, Trina Rolle; 3 Grandsons: Lorenzo Jordan Bright, Jordan Darius Bright, Michael Bernard Bright Jr., Step-Grand Daughter Halle Janae Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Joyce grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida and graduated valedictorian from Roosevelt High, class of 1966. She attended Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
Joyce started her professional career as a teacher at Golfview Junior High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. She later taught math and coached the bowling team at Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach. After teaching for a number of years, she accepted a position at Bell South (AT&T) as a communication sales specialist. During her career at AT&T, she held various positions, including recruiter and system design specialist. She retired after 25 years.
Joyce loved to bowl more than the average professional bowler and spent more than her fair share of time at the lanes. She was lifetime member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She serviced in various positions with Delta Epsilon Zeta in West Palm Beach including basileus with the Epsilon Epsilon Zeta chapter in Orlando, Florida.
Her passion in life was with God and serving in the church. At a very young age Joyce attended and became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a dedicated member of Conway United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Orlando, Florida. Joyce served the United Methodist Church by serving in multiple lay leadership positions at the national, conference, district and local church level.
