Joyce Lynne Long, age 78, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her home in Orlando. She was the loving widow of the late Gerald Long.
Joyce was born on November 8, 1942 in East Cleveland, OH, daughter to her late parents, Oscar Hamilton and Nola Irene (Rugg) McCamey.
Joyce was a retired RN of 30+ years. She loved her job and always took pride in helping the people she cared for while working for hospice. She was a very friendly and sociable person, having a love for life seldom seen. She was always a willing participant in all the adventures that came her way, which lead her to travel extensively. These shenanigans normally took place doing what she loved, sitting behind her husband on the back of their motorcycle.
She was overly proud of her family and would always share stories of her children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen. Joyce was an artist at heart and spent many hours painting and doing ceramics with her friends. She was was an active member of the Evangel Assembly of God church and built her world around God, family, and friends.
Joyce is survived by her son, Robert Long of Deltona; her three daughters, Jerrilynn Long and her husband, Mike, of Deltona, Victoria Bessant and her husband, William, of Ashtabula, OH, and Carol Taylor of Bradford, PA; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; her daughter, Veronica Peebles; and her brother, Howard McCamey.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando.
Funeral Services are Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Rice officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando.
