Judith E. Babine of Cascade Heights Assisted Living Center in Longwood, FL passed away September 17, 2020 in the intensive care unit of Advent Hospital in Altamonte Springs, FL. Judy has finally found a pain-free place and is with her daughter, Wendy.
Judy was born January 18, 1939 in Lawrence, MA, and raised and schooled in Kittery, Maine. She married fellow "mainiac" Harold C. Babine and set off on a 28-year journey as a completely dedicated and devoted Navy wife. Early in their 62-year marriage, they produced three wonderful children: Jim Babine (Chris), Oviedo, FL, Mike Babine (Sue), Crestview, FL, and Wendy Babine who preceded her mother in death (December 2019).
Judy also leaves behind granddaughters Andrea Czepiel (Steve), Edinburgh, VA and Christy Reese, NC, and grandson Bryan Pevehouse, Orlando, FL. Other family members include nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
During her tour as a Navy wife, Judy and Harold resided in West Roxbury, MA; Lynn, MA; Waukegan, IL; Newport, RI; Memphis, TN; Norfolk, VA; Charleston, SC; and Pensacola, FL before moving to the Orlando area when Harold retired from the Navy in 1981. Aside from being a full-time Navy wife, Judy found time to volunteer in any capacity to support the armed services.
After Harold's retirement and subsequent employment, Judy quickly seized the opportunity to volunteer in a whole new environment. She discovered Newcomers of Central Florida, a women's social club in the greater Orlando area, and quickly became a valued contributor and leader. She was involved with the club for over 20 years (including two terms as president).
Services for Judy were held privately with the family in attendance. Inurnment will be at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL with immediate family in attendance.
The family is planning to hold a Celebration of Life social gathering as soon as the powers that be declare it is safe to do so.
The family also asks that no flowers be sent at this time. (The Celebration of Life will have a yellow carnation theme to commemorate Judy's favorite flower.) Memorial donations in Judy's honor can be sent to Newcomers of Central Florida, Inc. at P.O. Box 620384, Oviedo, FL 32765-0384.
