Julio Vicente Guerrero

El viernes 6 de noviembre de 2020 a las 3:30 pm, Julio Vicente Guerrero, esposo amoroso y padre de 8 hijos, falleció en su residencia de vida asistida por problemas de salud no relacionados con Covid, a la edad de 88 años.

Nació el 23 de abril de 1932 en Higuey, República Dominicana y se crió en La Romana República Dominicana. De allí se aventuró a Nueva York donde trabajó como maestro mecánico de automóviles y taxista. En el verano de 1997, Julio se dirigió a Orlando, Florida, donde vivió el resto de sus días jubilado junto a su esposa por más de 60 años, Zenona Mencia Guerrero (de quien le sobrevive), y su fiel perro Bandit.

Hombre de semblante fuerte, estricto pero valoraba los principios de respeto, honor y trabajo duro que inculcó en sus hijos. Julio era un autoproclamado aficionado al bricolaje, aunque tal vez debería haber dejado algo de eso a los profesionales;), no tenía miedo de enfrentar una tarea que tenía entre manos y poner el sudor. Además, un mago en la cocina, cualquiera que haya tenido el placer de sentarse a su mesa puede dar fe de sus delicias culinarias tradicionales y autóctonas.

Su naturaleza fuerte y su hierro lo mantendrán con nosotros el mayor tiempo posible, a pesar de su cuerpo cansado y desgastado. Ahora libre de dolor y sufrimiento, su esposa, hijos, nietos, bisnietos y todos los sobrevivientes de Julio han ganado un fiel ángel de la guarda.

On Friday afternoon November 6, 2020, 3:30pm, Julio Vicente Guerrero, loving husband and father to 8 children, passed away in his assisted living residence from non Covid related health issues, at the age of 88.

He was born on April 23, 1932 in Higuey, Dominican Republic & raised in La Romana Dominican Republic. From there he ventured to New York where he worked as a master auto mechanic and taxi driver. In the summer of 1997, Julio made his way to Orlando, Florida where he lived out the rest of his days in retirement alongside his wife of 60+ years, Zenona Mencia Guerrero (whom he is survived by), and faithful dog Bandit.

A man with a countenance of strength, he was strict but valued the principles of respect, honor and hard work which he instilled in his children. Julio was a self proclaimed DIYer - although he maybe should have left some of that to the professionals ;) - he wasn't scared of facing a task at hand and putting in the sweat equity. Also, a magician in the kitchen, anyone who had the pleasure of sitting at his table can attest to his traditional, native culinary delicacies.

His strong nature and iron will kept him with us as long as possible, despite a tired, worn body. Now free of pain and suffering, his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all of those survived by Julio have gained a stalwart guardian angel.
