On Sunday, January 2, 2022, Katherine J. Cunningham lost her final battle with dementia at home peacefully with her family by her side.
Katherine was born in Orange, Virginia on February 9, 1943. She was the daughter of Willie Max Irmer and Nanny Estelle Irmer.
Katherine is survived by her four daughters: Terry (Houston Hill) ,Melissa (Mike Cuhna), Melody (Toby Waters), Wendy (Alberto Negron) and her only son Billy (Melissa Parsons). Loving grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 20 and 1 great- great grandchild.
Katherine had a passion for the outdoors and nature. She loved to draw, write poetry, go fishing while visiting the beach, take long walks at the park, play bingo and cards, have family barbeques, and listening and dancing to hymns, country music and oldies. She also had a huge love for animals whether it be a pet or stray. What gave her more joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that all donations be made to the following:
Alzheimer /Dementia Organization for further research and support
Rescue or Animal Shelter in monetary donation or Food
