Kathlyn Francis Herzic, 80, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Advent Health Hospital in Orlando.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando.
Kathy was born on September 17, 1943, to Leo and Catherine (Foley) Monkus in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in 1961. She married Richard P. Herzic on August 27, 1966. They made their home in Chicago before moving to Wisconsin in 1974. It was there that they raised their three children. In 1989, she and Richard moved to Orlando, Florida, where they restored and sold antiques and eventually retired.
Kathy will be remembered most for the love of her family. She was also a very good friend to many, and was always willing to help someone in need. She was an active member of her church in Wisconsin where she organized and taught youth classes and also played the piano and the organ. Kathy loved restoring and selling antiques, but her favorite past times in her retirement were playing Bingo, cards, doing puzzles, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard P.; her two sons, Richard D. and his partner, Martha, of Orlando, Florida; and her son, Bryan and his wife, Leah, of Iowa City, Iowa. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Brady Herzic, Brooke Herzic, Adam Meyer, and Ryan Meyer.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Debi Taylor, and her sisters, Maureen Kubala and Joan McGuiness.
