Kenneth Ray Smith, Sr., died at his residence early Friday morning on September 2, 2005. He was born in Martinsville, VA. on February 20, 1951 to William S. Smith, Sr. and Cecil Cosby Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from the Youngstown City Schools in 1969. He served in the Air Force from 1972 to 1985 and worked at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service until his passing. Mr. Smith married Diann Wilkerson on February 14, 1986 and had two daughters. He also had a son from a previous marriage to Lynne Smith. Mr. Smith served as coach for his daughters' teams in the Conway Little League and Catholic Youth League. Mr. Smith's rich legacy includes four children; Kenneth Smith, Jr., Derrick Hill, Chloe Smith and Kendra Smith; a granddaughter, DeVante Smith; a goddaughter Cortnay Lucas; a special niece Monica Lee and great niece Aleya Jordan; special cousins Banks "Buck" and Hartie Price. Mr. Smith treasured the time spent with his remaining siblings; William Smith, Jr., Jerry (Samantha) Smith and Evelyn Smith. Numerous other relatives and friends will miss his uplifting sense of humor. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, other relatives and friends. Mr. Smith will have a viewing service on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 from 4PM-8:30PM at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32822, 407-277-4227.
