Kocheta "Francine" Moore Hodge, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully departed this world on March 25, 2025. Born on February 19, 1933, in Portland, Jamaica, Francine lived a life that was rich in love, kindness, and joy, leaving a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her vibrant 92 years, Francine dedicated herself not only to her successful career but most importantly to her family. She worked diligently at Paul Adderly's law firm in the Bahamas during the 1960s and later contributed her talents at Carson Lawson and Kendall Knottage and Company law Firms. Her dedication found a long-lasting home at Broadcast Music Incorporated, where she served as an Executive Secretary from 1979 until 1996. Beyond her professional accomplishments, it was her role as a mother and grandmother that truly defined her life. A kind and loving mother, she always placed her children first, nurturing them and encouraging them to be the best they could be.
Francine was cherished by her family, which included her daughter Donna Ducker, her oldest son Carlton Brown and his wife Maria , her middle son Micheal Gibson and his wife Karen and the youngest son Ricky Bowe and his wife Machelle. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Michael Gibson Jr., Marlon Miller, Ashli Gibson, Allyson Brown, Denee Francis, Austin Brown, Alexia Green, along with her great-grandchildren, Kendall Gibson, Micheala Gibson, Jalia Taylor, Jade Taylor, Myla Miller, and Jasmine Plescode. Francine had the profound joy of witnessing her children graduate from high school and college, with a proud moment being the graduation of her youngest son from the Army. Each grandchild’s and great grandchildren's academic achievements were celebrated with immeasurable pride and happiness.
Francine was not only a nurturing matriarch but also a warm-hearted person whose home was always welcoming to everyone. She loved nothing more than hosting large gatherings filled with laughter, delicious food, and great music. Her passion for baking was complemented by her enjoyment of knitting, though crochet never quite captured her heart. She found joy in watching TV shows like The Cosby Show and Living Single, and cherished classic films such as Forrest Gump. Everyone admired her zest for life and her ability to give so much of herself, always ensuring that her family was well cared for.
She is remembered fondly by her siblings Anthony Moore, Zephanie Moore, and Rosa Moore, who will cherish her memory alongside the love she shared. Francine was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Livingston and Zephaniah Moore, and her brothers, Oswald Moore and Clifton Moore and her grandson Alex Brown.
Francine's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, generosity, and unwavering support for her family. Her legacy is one of warmth that will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life.
