Kumaria Sukhram (affectionately known by family and friends as Lena), was born to Ramnarine and Bephia Ramnarine on September 27, 1937 in Unity Village, East Coast Demerara, Guyana. She is the second born of nine children. Her siblings are Ramrrattie (Sissy), the late Meena, Baby, Lela, the late Jaio, Deo, Rajo, and Golin. She resided in Unity Village, Guyana during her childhood.
In October of 1955, Lena married Harry Sukhram Dowlatram, who worked at the Enmore sugar estate during his time in Guyana. Together, they had seven beautiful children: Patrick, Fredrick, Shannie, Derick, Annie, Polly and Dharma.
Lena was primarily a homemaker and a profession seamstress.
She migrated to the United States in 1985 and moved to New York with her husband and children. During her time in the states, she was a cashier at the Marriott at Wall Street. In 1990, she moved to Florida. In Florida, she worked in Dunkin Donuts, a family business. She retired in 1994.
Lena was the mother-in-law to Joyce, Lolita, Yohan, and Nazeer. She is the grandmother to: Alysin, Patrick Jr., Felicia, Joshua, Tiffany, Gregory, Richard, Ariella, Matthew, Stephen, Christopher, Brendon, Sarah, Sophia, Christian, Stephanie, Nathaniel and Aiden. She is also the great-grandmother to Blayre, Bree, Roman and Kalia.
Rather than mourn the death of Lena, she wanted her family and friends to celebrate her life. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.
