Lee Waters, Jr.

September 8, 1958 — August 25, 2020

Lee Waters Jr., 61, of Winter Park, FL and formerly Waukegan, IL peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Hospice of the Comforter surrounded by his family. He was born on September 8, 1958 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL to Virginia "Ginny" Liberty and Lee Waters, Sr.

Lee graduated in 1976 from Waukegan West High School where he was an avid swimmer and received numerous awards for his accomplishments. After high school, he began working at Liberty Asphalt as an Asphalt Laborer and became a member of the Laborers Local Union 152. While working at Liberty Asphalt, he met his best friend Nahum Prado, who introduced him to his beautiful wife Julie. They were married on January 5, 1980 and shortly thereafter had three children, Sabrina, Anita and Lee III. They eventually moved to Winter Park, Florida where Lee began working as a truck driver for Averitt Express and received countless certifications and awards for his outstanding driving record. He was such a dedicated employee who was loved by all who worked with him.

No one who met Lee could forget his infectious smile and kind soul. And of course his love for tacos which he handmade himself and hosted the best Taco Parties that people would have paid to attend because the tacos were that good. He was the biggest Chicago Bears fan and loved Football Sunday where we would gather around and watch the Bears (usually lose) but it was something he truly enjoyed doing because he was spending time with his family. The beach was Lee and Julie's happy place and they loved to spend the weekend there, soaking up the sun during the day and spending the night listening to live music and dancing the night away at their favorite spot, The Ocean Deck. He loved the beach so much and loved to listen to music. Always going out on the weekends to watch some of his favorite local bands and jam out on the dance floor. Lee and Julie loved to travel and always enjoyed a good trip on a cruise and were always out and about living their best life.

He was such a loving Husband; an amazing Father, the best big Brother, the greatest Uncle and the absolute best Grandpa ever. He loved his grandbabies so much and they loved him too. He was also one of the best friends you could have. Anyone that knew Lee knew how wonderful and likeable he was. There is not one person that he did not get along with. He made friends with anyone that came across his path. Even the mailman and him were close. They shared the same love for the Chicago Bears. He was such a kind and humble man and he was so caring and giving. Truly an angel of a man.

Lee is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie Waters; his daughter, Sabrina Torres, her husband Allan Torres, his granddaughter, Gabriella Torres and grandson Braedon Torres; his daughter, Anita Waters; his son, Lee Waters III, his wife Valeria Waters and his grandson, Oliver Wolf Waters; his sister, Patricia Hacke, her husband Roger Hacke and his niece Anicia Morgenthaler, her husband Jeremy Reid and their children, Julea Jocelinn, Jilyan and Jace Reid; and his niece Alisa Moreno, her husband Vicente Moreno and their daughter EmmaLinn Moreno.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Linn "Monk" Markley.
