Lena Winberry Hulette, age 95, of Winter Park, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George A. Hulette, her parents, Wiley and Fannie Winberry, her brother, James Winberry, her cousin, Libby Cobble and her son-in-law Larry Wooldridge.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Wooldridge (Kyle), Wendy Hulette, and Mary Bates (Chris), grandchildren, Jeremy Wooldridge (Alyssa), Daniel Bates, and Samuel Bates (Courtney), great-grandchildren, Colt Wooldridge and Clay Wooldridge, and daughter of the heart, Carla Clemente.
Lena led an extraordinary life. She met and married her husband when he was stationed at USMC Camp Lejeune. Their first big adventure took her 10K miles to the islands of the Philippines. She loved it! Upon returning to the United States, they were stationed in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina. When her husband retired from the Marine Corps after nearly 25 years of service, they moved to Winter Park. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the United Methodist Church and local PTA's. She enjoyed reading and gardening, but she was passionate about cooking. She was known as an authentic southern cook. Her Sunday dinners were legendary, and open invitations were extended to many...but most especially to her son-in-law Chris! What she enjoyed above all else was being a proud grandmother. She dearly loved her grandsons.
May the Angels lead her to Paradise.
Private services will be held by the family.
Arrangements are by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).
