Leon Green Kirkland, Iii

Kirkland III, Leon G., age 65 of Orlando, FL went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2013. He was born in Columbus, GA on March 31, 1948 to the late Lois and Leon G. Kirkland II. Mr. Kirkland was a retired Army Veteran who gave 21 years of his life to the military. He was an honored soldier and Vietnam Veteran. Upon retiring from the military, he worked for the United States Post Office until he retired once again. Hunting and fishing were his favorite activities as he loved the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Brenda Kirkland and his two daughters- Diana Metzger and Michelle Marshall. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Justin Marshall and Kiley Metzger and his son in laws, Mickey Marshall and Mike Metzger as well as his sister, Vicki Coon. He will be missed dearly but held close in our hearts. He will be remembered for his devotion to God, his wife, his family and to the military. Visitation will be held from 6PM-8PM Friday, July 19 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM Saturday, July 20 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5900 Oleander Drive, Orlando. Interment with military honors will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park.
