Leonard "Len" C. Diesselhorst, born on January 2, 1921 in Westside, Iowa. Leonard passed away on Wednesday September 9, 2015 in Orlando, FL following several years of illness with Alzheimer's disease.
Len was a decorated and honorably discharged USMC Staff Sergeant who served in the WWII South Pacific theater before serving at the Department of Defense at the Defense Fuel Supply Command for 20+ years in Northern Virginia. He retired to Florida in 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jane Nix Diesselhorst of Orlando, FL; children, Bill (Debbie) Diesselhorst of Johnson City, TN, Karen Rybicki of Orlando, FL, David (Carolyn) Diesselhorst of Annandale, VA, Lynn (Kevin) Lansberry of Orlando, FL, and Nancy (Marcos) Marchena of Orlando, FL; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday September 11, 2015 from 4:30pm to 6pm with funeral service at 6pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (East Orlando Chapel). Graveside service with follow at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA where he will be laid to rest along side of his parents, Henry Louis and Lydia, and sister, Laurel Troup.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to The Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org) or Vitas Hospice of Orlando.
