Leroy W. Ham

Leroy William Ham was born on February 23,1936 to Ruby Douglas Hill and George Ham Sr. He traveled back home on May 5, 2022. Leroy leaves behind a wife, Jacqueline Ham, three daughter's Carol Ham, Joy Marie Ham and Lakeya Millin Johnson and two Son's Leroy Ham Jr. and Donald Johnson. One daughter Karen Ham, who preceded him in death. He has three brothers, George Ham Jr. from Chicago, Alvin Ham of Brooklyn New York and Richard Elliott His oldest Brother, Richard who preceded him in death. Leroy also leaves behind three Sisters, Inez Ham Rock, Juanita Ham of Delaware and Joyce Hill of Egypt, grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Leroy joined the Air Force and proudly served his country from September 16, 1958 until October 12, 1962 with an honorable discharge. He enjoyed his military career in Communications as a Ground Radio Repairman. Leroy worked many different jobs, and none were too big or too small for him. He worked as a a delivery person, Rembrandt Lamp Company as a Shade Cutter, A&M Leather-line as a Clerk Supervisor, the United States Post Office as a Clerk, and later landed a job with the NYC Transit Authority as City Bus Operator in Manhattan New York for twenty-years. Leroy attained a higher status while at NYC Transit as Chairman of 100 Street Garage. After he retired, Leroy moved to Hampton Virginia with his wife and daughter Lakeya. He drove for Penn Tran Bus Company for almost one year, then moved back to Staten Island New York. Leroy began employment with BCBS for three years and was later hired by First Security as a Security Officer and was later promoted to Supervisor. Leroy moved to Apopka Florida with his wife and daughter Lakeya in July 2000.

As an advent bowler most all his life. He joined a bowing league at Brunswick Bowling in Apopka Florida for several years, until the Pandemic hit. Leroy bowled two three hundred games, which he was very excited and proud of. In Leroy's life he earned numerous certificate of appreciation/merit as a juror, which he felt was his civil duty He also earned a Special Achievement Award from the Society of African American Transit Employees for his team spirit and thoughtfulness. Having theses qualities, Leroy met and became friends with a lot of people who cared deeply for him and was sad to hear of his untimely passing.
