Leroy Lester Hoffmann III (Roy), who shared his time between Orlando, FL, and Valley Stream, NY, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. He was 66 years old.
Roy was born in Jamaica, NY on November 21, 1954 to the late Leroy Lester II and Frances Nina (Bellomo) Hoffmann.
Roy was a hardworking provider for his family. He started his professional journey as truck driver and joined his father's family business, Airport Receivers, after high school, eventually working his way up to the role of Vice President. He later enrolled and graduated from Molloy College and went on to become a licensed nuclear medicine technician.
He was a beloved father to five children: Amanda, Nicole, Roy, Sal, and Christopher; and served as a father figure to many. His greatest joys were moments shared with his family (especially those that involved food).
He was always looking for his next project, whether it was maintaining cars or making household repairs, while sharing his wisdom with the next generation to make sure they were prepared to go into the world with independence and confidence. He was a master refurbisher who could fix seemingly unfixable problems – and did so with great pride. He also enjoyed gardening and could often be found outside tending to his crop. Beyond all else, he was a nurturer.
He is survived by his children, his grandchildren Ava and Jake, and his brother Michael. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary.
His memorial service will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32822 Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 5 to 8pm. A second memorial will take place at a later date for his New York family and friends to pay their respects.
