Orlando resident Leroy Daniel Scott, 69 made his transition May 19, 2006, close to his family and friends.
Mr. Scott was born Jan. 22, 1937 in Tampa, FL to Clarence A. Scott and Nelle J. Palmer Scott.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954. He earned a BS in Psychology from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University. He was a proud member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the American Mensa Society. He married Luisa Rodriguez on July 19, 1986 in Miami, FL.
He served proudly and honorably as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum and then the U.S. Government where he held the title of Equal Opportunity Manager. He later joined Lockheed Space Operations where he retired in 1998. He was a faithful member of Unity Church.
In retirement, he enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and everything about life.
He is survived by his wife, Luisa Rodriguez-Scott; sister, Dr. Claire N. Scott of Atlanta, GA and brother T. Wayne Scott of Charlotte, NC; children, Lee Ann Scott of Atlanta, GA, Matthew A. Scott of Highpoint, N.Y., Teresa Lopez-Padilla of Orlando, FL, Ismael R. Lopez of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and 9 grandchildren.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in the Chapel of Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. Orlando. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 7:00-9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service.
