Lidya Marin, 62, of Orlando, FL, passed away on February 18, 2022 peacefully at home.

On July 28, 1959. Lidya was born in Colon, a city in the Matanzas Province of Cuba.

Lidya came from Cuba, with her parents and brother in October of 1971 and lived in Yonkers, NY. Lidya and her family moved to Orlando, FL in 1974. She attended Union Park Junior High and then on to Colonial High School, where she graduated in 1978. She then attended Valencia Community College. In December of 1980 Lidya met her soulmate, Pete Marin, while attending service at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. They were married on September 12, 1981.

She spent most of her 30+ year career working for CNA Insurance. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Her legacy will be forever felt by her family and friends.

Her family was her world. Watching and talking with her beautiful grandsons Lucas and Braxton was one of her favorite things. She loved her children very much. She was a devoted daughter, and was blessed to have spent her final days with her mother being by her side. Lidya loved to travel, whether on land or on one of the many cruises they took or with the boat club that became part of their extended family. Even after her diagnosis with cancer, Lidya and her husband, Pete, made every effort to still enjoy the time they had together by continuing to make memories and travel while she was still able.

Lidya loved the ocean, and walking down the beach and watching sunsets together.

Lidya touched everyone she met. She was the life of the party. Her Christmas Eve Party's were always a special celebration. She never held a grudge and always accepted people for who they were. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Lidya was predeceased by her father, Reynaldo Martinez.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Marin Sr; mother, Lazara Martinez; brother, Reinaldo Martinez; daughter, Stephanie Rodriguez-Torres; son, Peter Marin Jr; grandchildren, Lucas and Braxton Rodriguez-Torres, and sister-in-law, nephews, niece, many extended family and dog, Mickey.

A memorial service/mass for Lidya will be held at St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, in Orlando, FL on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 12pm. A gathering will follow, with refreshments, after the service at the outside Pavilion at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Lidya's memory to any of the following: Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute of Lake Nona, FL; to your local animal shelter; or Kindred Hospice of Orlando, FL.

En Diciembre de 1980, Lidya conoció a su alma gemela, Pete Marin, mientras asistía al servicio en la Iglesia Católica del Buen Pastor. Se casaron el 12 de Septiembre de 1981.
Pasó la mayor parte de su carrera de más de 30 años trabajando para CNA Insurance. Era una devota esposa, hija, hermana, madre y abuela. Su legado será sentido para siempre por su familia y amigos.

Su familia era su mundo. Ver y hablar con sus hermosos nietos Lucas y Braxton era una de sus cosas favoritas. Amaba mucho a sus hijos. Era una hija devota, y tuvo la bendición de haber pasado sus últimos días con su madre a su lado. A Lidya le encantaba viajar, ya sea en tierra o en uno de los muchos cruceros que tomaron o con el club náutico que se convirtió en parte de su familia extendida. Incluso después de su diagnóstico de cáncer, Lidya y su esposo, Pete, hicieron todo lo posible para seguir disfrutando del tiempo que pasaron juntos al continuar creando recuerdos y viajando mientras ella aún podía.

A Lidya le encantaba el océano, y caminar por la playa y ver puestas de sol juntos.

Lidya tocó a todos los que conoció. Ella era la vida de la fiesta. Sus fiestas de Nochebuena siempre fueron una celebración especial. Nunca guardó rencor y siempre aceptó a las personas por lo que eran. Ella fue amada y será extrañada por muchos.

Lidya fue fallecida por su padre, Reynaldo Martínez.

Le sobreviven su esposo, Pete Marin Sr; madre, Lazara Martínez; hermano, Reinaldo Martínez; hija, Stephanie Rodríguez-Torres; hijo, Peter Marin Jr; nietos, Lucas y Braxton Rodríguez-Torres, y cuñada, sobrinos, sobrina, mucha familia extendida y el perro, Mickey.

Un servicio conmemorativo / misa para Lidya se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia Católica St Isaac Jogues, en Orlando, FL el Sábado 19 de Marzo de 2022 a las 12 p.m. Seguirá una reunión, con refresco y comida, después del servicio en el Pabellón exterior de la iglesia.
