Lloyd Bateman Farabee, 89, of Orlando passed away peacefully January 23, 2012, in Winter Haven. He was born November 5, 1922, in Oak Grove, Florida, to T.N. and Minnie Bateman Farabee, longtime Orange County educators. He married Eleanor Langston in Starkville, Mississippi on May 27, 1950.
He was a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Texas. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a radio operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando, and served there and at Delaney Street Baptist Church as a choir member, Sunday-school teacher, and Deacon. He was active in church choir, in the Florida Trail Association, Central Florida Genealogy Society, Free and Accepted Masons (Eola Lodge 207), and served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 164. He was employed for many years as an engineer by Martin Marietta. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially camping, hiking, canoeing and cycling.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor, daughters Patricia (Frank) Denham and Janet (Michael) Sordan and son David Farabee, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, and brother Jack (Martha) Farabee.
