In Loving Memory Of
Lucila "Lolly" Poon
May 23, 1933 - August 13, 2024
Lucila Mesina Poon, lovingly known as “Lolly”, peacefully passed away on August 13th, 2024. She was born on May 23rd, 1933 in Cavinti, Laguna, Philippines. She lived to be over 91 years old and lead a full and happy life. It isn't often in our lives that we come across someone so special that that person stays with you forever. Lolly was that kind of person. She was a complex woman, she wasn’t just one thing - she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a great aunt, a passionate follower of Christ, and a beacon of light. As we stand together in this moment of reflection and remembrance, we are united by the shared privilege of having known a person whose heart was full of love and whose spirit radiated with such warmth.
One could always count on Lolly to look her best, her impeccable style was more than just outward appearances—as it was a testament to the vibrant spirit she carried within. You always knew when Lolly had entered a room, with her lively energy and infectious laughter. She was always excited to greet others with a big, tight embrace and her sniffing kisses. She effortlessly brought joy and laughter to all; it just came naturally, woven into the very fabric of who she was. She made an impact on everyone she encountered, as so much of who we are today is because of her. In her presence, we were reminded that to love and be loved is the greatest gift of all.
In her later years, even as the world changed around her, Lolly remained a constant beacon of light and courage. Regardless of her small stature, she was a mighty woman and her resilience in the face of life’s challenges were a testament to the strength of her spirit and the depth of her love.
She was a dedicated parishioner of her church and her loyalty to Christ remained with her throughout her life. As a devoted Catholic, Lolly carried her faith with grace and her life was a testament to her beliefs. Her faith was her guiding light, and she was a living example of the virtues she held dear and she truly embodied the spirit of her faith.
She leaves behind her loving spouse, Salvador D. Poon, her children, son-Juneau (Jojo) Mesina Poon with loving spouse, Grace Pagsuyin Poon, with grandchildren, Victoria (Tori) Poon, and Liam Poon, son-Clemar (Mark) Mesina Poon, and her sister, Josefina O. Mesina
She reunites with her beloved parents, Marcelo V. Mesina and Gertrude Oliveros Mesina, and her siblings Andres O. Mesina, Rosita Mesina Arandid, and Roberto O. Mesina, who predeceased her.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the countless memories she has left us. Each of us carries a piece of her spirit within us—a reflection of her kindness, her laughter, and her boundless love. The light she has left behind is what will get us through this time of grief and her light is what we will carry with us throughout our own lives and be in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace, our dear Lolly. Your love will remain a guiding force as we move forward. Thank you for showing us the true meaning of love and for making this world a much brighter place. May you rest in the eternal embrace of peace and love.
