On Thursday, August 19, 2021, Luis Anibal Santos, loving husband, father of three children, and grandfather to five grandchildren, passed away at the age of 66.
Luis was born on April 9, 1955 in Manhattan, New York. Shortly after his mother Aida met his then stepfather Tomas, they relocated to Chicago, IL. During his time in Chicago he attended both junior high and high school.
After high school, Luis and his mother moved back to New York and made a home in the Bronx, where he rekindled and married his wife Carmen Santos on June 6, 1975 at the age of 19. Together they raised three children, Shimeyka, Moranda, and Evan. To provide a better upbring for their children, they moved to Orlando, Florida during the summer of 1992.
Luis had a passion for music. When he was a teenager in Chicago, he joined a local band, and played lead guitarist. As a talented musician, he also played drums and bongos. When his children were young, he spent much time singing and playing various songs which included The Temptation songs. Delighted that his grandchildren showed an interest in music, Luis taught them to play guitar.
Luis was a jack of all trades from truck driver to handy man, give him a tool and he would build it or fix it. He was also known for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor. He'd laugh at his own jokes even before saying the punch line. His big bright smile was infectious, and he loved "shooting the shit" with his friends and family.
Luis was preceded in death by his sister Haydee, mother Aida, and biological father Anibal. He is survived by his wife Carmen, his three children Shimeyka, Moranda, and Evan, five grandchildren, Isaiah, Dean, Masen, Sadee, and Alyianna, sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.
A funeral viewing will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home at 895 South Goldenrod Road at 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
