With great sorrow our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, LYDIA MAILE, 102 years young, called to eternal rest on May 15. Born in Worcester, MA on August 14, 1919 to FELIX & MARY KING, LYDIA was one of eight children.
She joined the war effort in 1942 working at a toy factory, secretly building munitions. She and husband, decorated WWII vet LOUIS MAILE, moved to Florida in '65 and raised a family in east Orlando. An expert bargain hunter, LYDIA's resale store at the Maitland Flea Market was a hit in the 70's. Later in life, she joined husband LOU as they pursued work in the TV, Film & Commercial industry, landing numerous bookings.
LYDIA, who prayed for all those around her, loved fashion, shopping, dining out, Jai-Alai and her cat Misty. Known as the "energizer bunny" to family & friends, she beat long odds overcoming scores of surgeries, illnesses and hospitalizations to surpass 100. Thank you to all medical personnel who contributed to Mom's longevity miracle.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of over 55 years and six siblings, LYDIA is survived by sister LORRAINE, Ocala, daughters LISA MAILE D'ALESSANDRO (son-in-law Art), Maitland, SUZETTE KENDALL, Cullman, AL, 4 grandchildren and 12 greats.
