Lydia Ortiz

d. July 3, 2023

My life will always be filled with laughter, happiness and security because of the love of my mother… a lifetime of blessings which she taught me to recognize and cherish. The loving admiration which her eyes had held will continue to show through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her soothing words and warm healing touch will forever be felt. Te adoro Mami - Tere.

I lost my mother on July 3. I wasn't ready. Is anyone ever ready? I would do anything to have my mother with me forever, but that is not in God's plan. What I do have forever are the wonderful memories we made and the love she had for my children, my husband, and me. The lord gave me a mother who was strong both physically and mentally. She fought a battle with cancer and rarely complained of pain. She wrote beautiful poetry and was a self-taught reader and writer of both the Spanish and English language. Her strength and love has made me a better mother and wife. I was given the glorious gift of being with my mother when the Lord came to take her home. I have lost my loving mother, but the heavens have gained a beautiful angel!
I love you Mami – Maritza

I've never doubted the love that my mom had had for me. Every look, gesture and word told me so. I've always known how lucky I am to have had her for a mother! She told me often how proud she was of the way that my children turned out. I told her that they are who they are because of the way that I was raised. Through Mom and Pop, my sisters and I learned the importance of love of family. Not so much by their words but by their actions. One thing that I know I got from my mother is her sense of humor. She loved to laugh but more so, she loved to make others laugh. Mom had a very quick wit that always impressed me. I am proud to say that, for a person of such small stature, my mother had a very large presence. Mom, you will influence me for the rest of my life. Your loving son, Junior.

Querida hermana:

My dearest and unforgettable wife:
58 years ago we met before the Lord and swore eternal love; a love we shared with four children He allowed us to have and love. Now you have gone with Him but not for too long because I know a day, not too far away, we are going to meet and continue that eternal love that only He can allow us to have. I'm looking forward to that meeting because our beloved Julia Mercedes will be with us celebrating our reunion. Thanks for those wonderful 58 years we spent together, my love. Eternally yours your husband Braulio.
