Mabel Thomas, age 94, of Orlando, FL passed away Thursday January 15, 2015. Born March 27, 1920, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late Thomas Ewing and Alice (Smith) VanScoyoc. Preceded in death by her husband, John H. Thomas Sr., son John H. Thomas Jr. "Jack"; brothers, Adam, Donald, John and Thadeus; sisters, Florence, Fanny, Gertrude, Geneva and Helena. She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Robert "Bob", Cheryl "Sherry" and Janell Thomas all of Orlando, FL; 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mabel was a member of the Woodhaven Baptist Church in Orlando, FL. Retired from Sears after 20 years. Lifetime member of VFW Post 2093 women's auxiliary. She loved playing Bingo and had many friends at both Elks Lodge on Primrose and American Legion in Pine Castle. She will also be missed by her many friends at the Villas of Orlando where she lived for 27 years.
Visitation is Tuesday January 20, 2015 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm with funeral service starting at 1:30pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (East Orlando Chapel). Pastor Alan Kozy is officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
