Marciano (Chan) Sanchez Medina
1941-2016
Chan Sanchez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 2nd son of Marcial Sanchez y Maria Medina of which is survived by Jesus Sanchez, his beloved older brother in Chicago. In 1964 married Milagros Rosario having 4 children (Zaida, Ivonne, Yaddira, y Manuel) of which they enjoyed having 5 grandchildren, Hector Nieves, Sherilyn Nieves, Carlos Diaz, Joshua Sanchez and Angel Diaz . He was part of the United States Army for which he served with honor and courage in the Vietnam War. He was given the "Purple Heart" Award for being seriously injured in battle while maintaining his post and carrying on with his job.
He grew up in a Christian home, but it wasn't until 1985 that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and got baptized as a family together with his wife and children in the Southside Baptist Church in Sebring, FL. In 1987 they visited the Primera Iglesia Cristiana Discipulos de Cristo de Orlando, which after moving to Oviedo, they made it their home church until this day at the Iglesia Cristiana de Adoracion pastored by Rev. Herminio Narvaez, Jr. There, his service to The Lord started in diverse ministries such as the Tutoring Ministry, Beneficence, Youth, Ushers, Misioneros de Cristo, y Christian Veterans; in which he was known for his unconditional service to The Lord and his brothers in Christ, even with his physical limitations, for which to him they were not an impediment. Throughout his life the love for the brethren and being always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed where characteristics that he possessed. He was known for helping new arriving families to the church as well to the City of Orlando, finding services and assistance for them.
His favorite hobby was classic car collectibles and "Car Shows". Chan was a happy man, giving, caring and loving his wife, family, and friends. Always maintaining the unity in the family and friends a like. His doors were always opened to welcome everyone!
