NIDY, MARGARET R. 86, passed away from cancer on Sunday, December 30, 2007. Margaret, "Peggy", was born on October 2, 1921 in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was married to Robert K. Nidy for the past 66 years. Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert Nidy; her son, Lynn Nidy; her daughter, Roxanne Hinkle; her sister, Dorothy Marconi; her brother, Richard Willis; her granddaughter, Kathryn Cukier; her grandson, William Nidy; and her great-grandchildren, Ariana and Alexander Cukier. Peggy lived in Florida throughout her entire life. She began a career in fashion modeling in Central Florida in the 1950's which she continued to enjoy and participate in for well over three decades. Peggy volunteered many thousands of hours of her time working as a "Pink Lady" at Florida Hospital in Orlando, and during that time became the president of the hospital's auxiliary. After her years of volunteer work with Florida Hospital she became a hostess, and traveling companion to the contestants for the Miss Florida Pageant. She went on to become one of the judges for the Miss Florida competition. Peggy loved to travel extensively throughout her life, and visited numerous foreign countries during her many travels. Although she spoke only the English language, her bright smile and gentle laughter made it possible for her to develop wonderful friendships with people throughout the world. She was a lifetime member of the National Wildlife Federation, as well as the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Peggy made friends easily throughout her lifetime, because her warmth and vitality made everyone feel immediately at ease when they were in her presence. She would want us to thank the entire staff of Regent's Park for her care. Their devotion was focused on helping her be as comfortable as possible, and to maintain her courage and dignity throughout her remaining days with her loved ones. Peggy's life will be celebrated in a memorial service at 4PM, Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Newcomer Family Funeral Homes, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL. Phone (407) 277-4227. Life is Short, Love is Long. In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested that donations be made to the National Wildlife Fund (www.nwf.org) or the ASPCA (www.aspca.org).
