Margot Nelson Cook Friedrich
1/4/71-10/7/19
Margot Friedrich (formerly Margot Cook) passed away peacefully in hospice Monday morning October 7, 2019 in Orlando, FL. Margot was only 48 and had been battling Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) since June of 2018. Margot did quit smoking on 4/20 of 2018 and was proud of it.
She had many friends and they all came to see her in the hospital which was wonderful. She was always animated when reminiscing with friends or planning new activities.
Margot was born 1/4/1971 in Phoenix, AZ. She and her mother were "adopted" by a loving family (Judy & Emmett Douglas) and she was their first "granddaughter". She lived in Scottsdale until moving to Denver in 1979. After three years she moved to Florida when her mother relocated there with AT&T, with a short stint in Cincinnati first. Even in Florida she moved around a few times, and was just moving into her husband Paul's house that they had been remodeling and she was the "general contractor" making things happen and helping Paul with painting, etc.
In Winter Park Margot attended Aloma Elementary and Glenridge Middle School. She transferred to Deltona Middle, then Deland High and graduated in the first graduating class of the new Deltona High in 1989.
Margot worked at Wendy's in high school and beyond. Raising her sights after Brandon came she got an administrative position at AT&T where her mom worked. When she & her mom & Brandon moved to Falcon Trace in east Orange County, Margot got a job at SunTrust. She worked there 19 years & 6 months and they gave her a plaque to prove it. She always wanted to go back to work.
Margot is survived by her husband Paul Friedrich, son Brandon Cook, stepson PJ Friedrich and mother Clorinda Nelson. Margot also has loving aunts and uncles (Dan and Nick) and cousins (Karen, Sal, Mary, Ambra, Alex and more) all over the world, and new in-laws as well. She will join her sweet pitbull Bandit and chihuahua Jozie, and leaves behind Renegade and Apollo.
Margot loved FSU football, NASCAR racing, Colorado where she wanted to move back, and camping with Paul in their RV. Margot collected plush toys for any occasion, she filled the house with them at Christmas, her favorite holiday.
One way to describe Margot: she never forgot. She didn't forget her friends, she adored her family and her pets. She was good to the bone. Kind, sweet and funny. If you knew her, you loved her because she loved you.
Margot chose cremation. There will not be a service. If you would like to honor Margot with a memorial donation, consider the
