With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Maria L. Chuw on Monday, September 7th, 2020 at the age of 83. Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many whose lives she touched. She was surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Colon, Republic of Panama, she attended St. Mary's Academy. She met Mr. Wua Ken Chuw (late husband) and got married in 1957. Maria was fluent in three languages: Spanish, English, and Chinese. Her career started as an administrative assistant for the U.S. Army base stationed in Panama at the time, a job that she will hold the entire time until her retirement after 29 years of service. In 1987, Maria moved to Orlando, Florida. Her hobbies included going to various theme parks with her husband, travel, chatting with friends and watching movies.
She was the beloved mother of Melissa E. Taylor, Delsa E. Chuw, Fernando E. Chuw, Gisela E. Vargas and Renato E. Chuw. Maria was also the proud grandmother of Steven Taylor, Nicole Chuw and Tony Vargas.
Words cannot describe the void that she has left in our hearts. Her generosity and presence left a lasting impression on everybody that she met. Let us celebrate the times when she lifted our spirits, gave us guidance and unconditional love. A devoted catholic, Maria embraced the love of God and shared that love with everyone around her.
Due to the current situation, a small private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we wish that you donate to the American Cancer Society. She will be forever in our hearts and we will miss her dearly.
