Maria Luisa Rivera Colon of Orlando, Florida passed away on her 98th birthday, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Rio Pinar Health Care and Rehab Center. She was the widow of Francisco Merced-Gonzalez.
She was born on September 24, 1921 in Manati, PR to parents Abelina Colon and Eustacio Rivera.
Maria Luisa enjoyed cooking, making alcapurrias, Pasteles and sofrito, such as her son Francis learned how to make it and today continues her tradition. Maria also loved children, she took care of many throughout her life and that's why she was named "Titi" because she was "Titi" to all of us.
Maria Luisa is survived by her son, Francis Merced and his wife, Milagros, of Merritt Island, son Samuel Merced and his wife, Elisabeth De Jesus, of Orlando, daughter, Marisol Merced of Lawrence, MA, daughter, Migdalia Diaz and her husband, Daniel Gonzalez Casul, of Cleveland, OH, daughter, Esperanza Ortiz of Orlando, daughter, Olga Arriaga of New York, and daughter, Fannie Torres, and all her grandchildren, extended friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Her brothers Francisco Rivera Colon, Jorge Rivera Colon, Eustacio Rivera Colon, her sisters, Petra Rivera Colon, Gloria Rivera Colon and her son Luis A. Merced Rivera.
Funeral Services are Friday, September 27, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 27 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
