Marilyn Ann Smith, an enduring source of love and happiness to her family and all who knew her, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, in Orlando, Florida. Born on April 1, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, Marilyn's life was a beautiful mixture of warmth, care and support for her loved ones and friends.
Marilyn and her husband, Philip (deceased, 1973), together grew and nurtured a large and close-knit family that embodies Marilyn's values of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love. She was a beloved mother to Dennis (Sheila) Smith, Craig Smith (deceased), Cheri (Matthew) Kirwan, Patti Smith, Brian (Elizabeth) Smith, and Tim (Donna) Smith and a caring sister to Arlene (Michael) Carlson Urbain, Walter (Marie) Carlson, Corrine (Gordon) Bruckner (deceased), and Allan (Donna) Carlson.
Marilyn's legacy extends to her seven wonderful grandchildren - John Stegmeyer, Meghan Heidmann, Kelly Loobey, Darcy Coughlan, Ashley Smith, Philip Smith, and Katie Smith - and her eleven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to her later years.
She worked tirelessly to raise six children after Philip's passing but always found time for her friends and her community in ways that made a lasting impact. Marilyn touched the lives of many with her open heart and wonderful laugh. Knitting was also a passion and she showed it in the beautiful gifts that she passed on to family and friends. And, she really loved Beanie Babies.
As we mourn Marilyn's loss, we also celebrate her life and her legacy. Memorial services will be held in her honor, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate the life of a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
