On Thursday, July 18th, 2019, Mark James Dolan passed away at the age of 60 years old. He was in the comfort of his home in Orlando, Florida surrounded by his wife and three kids.
Mark was born on October 2nd, 1958 in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida to Edna Earl and James Dolan. He had a twin brother, Michael Dolan, and four sisters including Laura. Growing up, he traveled with family while his father was in the air force. He eventually moved to Virginia where he graduated from Annandale Highschool in 1977. On April 19th, 1980 he married his wife, Penny Dolan. Together they raised two daughters, Anna and Emilie, and one son, Joshua. He worked as a car salesman and also worked in the finance department for various dealerships. He had a passion for selling cars.
While Mark was passionate about his career, he was also passionate about many other things. He enjoyed attending poker nights at various places around Orlando and even experienced a few poker cruises which he was accompanied by his son Joshua. He managed a lottery group and loved going down to 711 to buy lottery tickets every morning. He was always asking people for their lucky numbers so he could play them. He always spoke of his dream to fly a spaceship up to Mars with his Great Dane Charlie, and a chimpanzee. He loved Mars and would often tell people that Mars was his home planet. He was most passionate about stories. Whether they be stories from his childhood, college days, the newspaper, or the newest space launch, he was ready to tell it. He would tell these stories to family, friends, people waiting in line at a store, and anyone else that was willing to sit and listen. He was a committed Miami dolphin fan and lover of all the Star Wars and Star Trek movies.
Mark was a fighter and overcame many obstacles in life. In 1986 he was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent intense chemo treatment and was in remission for 33 years. In 2002 he had a double bypass followed by a stroke in 2004. On July 1st, 2019 he was diagnosed with cancer yet again. He was given 3-6 months to live, but a very short 18 days later he gained his much-earned angel wings. He was an example of strength to all those that knew him.
Mark was preceded in death by his father James Dolan, and Mother Edna Earl. He is survived by his wife Penny, three children Anna, Joshua, and Emilie, his son-in-law Matt, Mother-in-law Sharon, two grandsons Viktor and Carter, his twin brother Mike, and also by his best friend, Charlie, the Great Dane.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27th, 2019 at 2 o' clock in the afternoon at his home, 1217 Trotwood Blvd, Winter Springs, FL 32708.
