Martha Marie Gruca, age 100, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2019 with her family by her side.
Martha was born November 15, 1918 in Footedale, PA, the daughter of the late Francis Yagiela and Michalina Hendrychowski. Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank G. Gruca. Martha was a loving mother to Eugene Gruca, Dr. Paul Gruca (Patricia), and Marcia Moncrieff. Devoted grandma to seven grandchildren, Julie Dolloff (Barry), Robert Gruca (Melissa), Lisa Wright (Bryan), Christine Schaefer (Andy), Kathy Gruca (Ryan), Thomas Gruca, and Michael Moncrieff. She was a loving great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren.
Martha worked as a registered nurse in industrial nursing, then the remaining 24 years of her career as a charge nurse in the newborn nursery and NICU at St. John's Hospital in Detroit. Martha had a celebration for her 100th birthday in November 2018 with dear family and friends.
Per Martha's request, a private graveside service is planned for a later date.
