Martin Gerard Smith, 66, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on August 4, 2019. He was born in Parma, Ohio on April 2, 1953 to Robert and Ethel Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel Smith; and his brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Smith.
Martin is survived by his wife of forty years, Linda; his children, Michael (Dairelis Rodriguez) Smith, Christopher (Rachel) Smith, Lisa (Charles) Crutcher, and Richard Smith; his grandchildren, Alan, Tyler, Becca, Devon, Charcy, Bella, Chaos and Mayhem.
Martin got his bachelor's degree from Florida Technical University, now the University of Central Florida. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a Human Factor Researcher for Essex Corporation, as well as research and development for NASA the armed forces. After retiring, Martin became a fire alarm technician for Orange County Public Schools. Martin was very computer oriented, and could fix any computer issue that may come up. He was a brilliant computer scientist, an honorable man, protector of the young, and a role model for all. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost their biggest fan in Martin, and Jeopardy lost a faithful viewer. He spent many years with the Knights of Columbus, Council 2112, and served two terms as their Grand Knight. Martin made the best steak marinade ever, and took the recipe with him. He will be remembered and missed as a husband, father, Grandpa, Knight, and friend.
As he would always say,"It's time to go. Love you, buh-bye, Grandpadad."
A memorial service will be held in Marty's honor on September 28, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus located at 5727 Cornelia Ave, Orlando, FL 32807.
