1946-2021
Martin J. Whelan III (Marty) passed away on December 16, 2021 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Whelan, née Trilligan, sons James (wife, Carlena) and Martin IV (wife, Jennifer), and his six grandchildren, Adam and Kyle of James, and Zachary, Olivia, Kian and Conor of Martin.
Born in Natick, MA to Martin Jr. and Grace Whelan, née Feeley, Marty worked in several positions for local and national telecommunications, moving to Orlando, FL in 1978. A hockey enthusiast, he coached, refereed, and served as president of the youth hockey association of Grafton. Marty enjoyed family, the beach, golf and friends, but especially being a grandfather ("Pop").
He is also survived by older brothers residing in MA, William and Paul, as well as younger sisters residing in FL, Mary Ellen Thibodeau and Grace Doran.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 28, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Community in Winter Springs, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Florida Cancer Specialist Foundation (www.fcsf.org)
