Marvin L. Estes, 76 passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011 in central Florida after a two-year battle with cancer. The son of Jessie Mae & Ernest Wayne Estes, Marvin was born in Atlanta, GA on December 4, 1934. He graduated from Smith High School in 1953; married his beloved wife, Shirley Brenner, in 1956; and, served honorably as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1962, including a tour of duty in Cuba.
Marvin & Shirley had two daughters, Alicia & Amy; and, they lived in Miami, FL before relocating to Orlando, FL in 1975. The Estes family was active members of First Baptist Church/Orlando where Marvin enjoyed serving on the church's production team. For many years, he supported the technological aspects of worship services and performances including the annual Easter Drama "The Light" and the popular "Singing Christmas Trees". In 1990, Marvin retired from a dedicated career of 30 years with Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic, cargo representative and "Red Coat" customer service liaison. In his post-retirement, Marvin enjoyed serving as a transportation coordinator with Mears/Disney Cruise Lines and being "Papaw" to grandsons Nasser & Noah. Marvin and Shirley were very happily married for 48 years, until her premature passing in 2004. Marvin's many hobbies included small engine repair and he rediscovered his passion for art, photography, framing and craftsmanship as a clock-maker.
He is survived by his daughters, Alicia Estes Boulaich (Said) and Amy Estes King (William); sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Chauncey Manuel; grandsons, Nasser and Noah Boulaich; niece, Patricia Mogus (John); and great nephew, Rob Peek (Robin).
