Mary Ann Adsit of Winter Park passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Born Mary Ann Duane, in Perry, Florida on March 5, 1934, she lived briefly in Ocala, before growing up in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from John Carroll High School in Birmingham, she trained to become an X-ray technician and moved to Selma, Alabama, where she met and married then Air Force Lt. Guy Dallas Adsit, Jr. The Adsits traveled throughout the United States and to Japan, while building their family which grew to include six children. In 1976, they retired from military life and settled in Winter Park. Throughout her life, Mrs. Adsit enjoyed the arts. She, herself, had many talents, including singing, dancing, and acting. She also enjoyed painting, drawing, and sculpture. She encouraged her children, grandchildren, and their friends to develop their own artistic talents, and will be remembered as a loyal fan and dear friend. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Guy Dallas Adsit, Jr. of Winter Park; her children, Michele (John Simon) of Apopka, Tara (Anthony J. Kroes) of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Anita of Orlando, Guy III (Suzanne Adsit) of Lynwood Washington, Michael of Orlando, and Dede of Winter Park; grandchildren, Nicholas and Noah Vander Loop of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Peter Simon of Apopka, and Emmie, Keelie, and Dallas IV of Lynwood, Washington; and siblings, Paula Ford of Pensacola, Florida, Ed Duane of Cottonwood, California, and Pat Duane of Del City, Oklahoma.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Sat. Sept. 5, 2009 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5300 Old Howell Branch Rd. Winter Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. Orlando.
