Chris Donahue, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this world on January 3, 2024 after a long illness. Born as Mary Christina Berry, on February 17, 1947, to Virginia Lee (Scarborough) and Albert Burton Berry in Sarasota, FL. She grew up in Orlando and raised her family in Casselberry and was a proud native Floridian.
Chris was the beloved wife of the late Michael 'Mike' E. Donahue and together were an inspiration of a couple truly in-love with one another. She was the proud and devoted mother of Alison Donahue Snyder (wife of Joshua Sr.), Michael C. Donahue (husband of Ann), Colleen Freeman (wife of Jon), Robert Donahue (husband of Justine), and Tim Donahue (husband of Stacey). Her children and their families were the center of her world, and she took immense joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Known for her compassionate spirit, Chris always looking out for others from being a school volunteer to supporting animal and Native American charities to offering her meals to the nurses and aids caring for her. She greeted all with a smile and usually a joke and offer of food. Chris had a special place in her heart for animals and was a passionate advocate for their well-being and adopted many rescued pets over the years. Her warm smile and open heart made her a beloved figure to those she met, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Chris loved to read, travel with her family, and garden in her rose garden. In addition, Chris had a unique fondness for the local Weather Men, Brian Shields and George Waldenberger, whose forecasts, college affiliations, social media interactions, and travel pictures brought her joy and fascination.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her two sisters, Sandra 'Sandy' Silberg and Theresa 'Terry' Huggins.
Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service to celebrate Chris Donahue's life will be held on January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Casselberry followed by burial at All Faiths Memorial Park in Casselberry. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, a charity that was dear to Chris' heart.
