Mary Elsie Royse died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the age of 94 in Orlando, Florida.
She was born December 29, 1916 in Charleston, West Virginia. the daughter of Clifton Kessinger and Ellie Mae Lovejoy Kessinger, also of Charleston, West Virginia.
She was married to Roy Milton Royse in Chicago in 1940, and widowed in 1988. They lived for most of their lives in Dunbar, Nitro, and then Ravenswood, West Virginia. She loved the Lord and her Bible, and Christian hymns. She sang alto, taught herself basic skills on the piano, and enjoyed landscape painting and flower arranging.
She is survived by her children:
Linda Ruth Lenhardt of Orlando Florida,
Donald Clifton Royse of Morgantown, WV,
Kathryn Elaine Stansell of Scottville Michigan, and
Dennis Allen Royse of Prescott Valley, AZ.
By ten grandchildren:
The five children of her son Donald, as follows—
Paige Elizabeth Royse DeLeon, of Morgantown, WV
Clifton Nathaniel, of Morgantown, WV
Jessica Ann, of Morgantown, WV
Vanessa Lynn, of Austin, TX and
Juliana Leigh, of Morgantown, WV.
The four children of her daughter Kathryn, as follows –
Mary Marguerite (Mimi) Stansell Oden, of Poinciana, Florida
Kathryn Arens (Kitty) Stansell Cross, of Waxahachie, Texas
Danalda Evaline (Dani) Stansell of Manistee, Michigan and
Gilbert Franklin Stansell III, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The son and only child of her son Dennis – Forest Erik, of Pittsburgh, PA.
And by eleven great-grandchildren:
The daughter of Paige, (Sophia);
The daughter of Jessica, (Olivia);
The two daughters of Mimi (Ariel and Isabelle);
The three children of Kitty (Isaac, Jessica, and Caroline);
Three of the sons of Dani (Noah, Nehemiah, and Nelson);
and the daughter of Gilbert, (Gianna).
She is also survived by her brother Warren Harold Kessinger, his wife Edna, of Charleston, WV and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her great-grandson, Nathanael Stansell,
She is also predeceased by her brothers Roy, Archie, Calvert, Tom, Alfred, Harley, and Bobby Kessinger;
and by her sisters Virgie-Violet Kessinger, Allie Clay, Willie Epling, Alva Fisher, Gladys Bevell, and Juanita Ruth Kessinger;
and by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 on August 27, 2011 in the WV Mausoleum near the Last Supper Section at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, near Cross Lanes, West Virginia.
