Mary Jane Andrew Muller passed away on January 10, 2023, at the age of 96. She grew up in Staten Island, New York. She was part of a close, loving family, the oldest of four children. She was a graduate of Syracuse University, where she met Ted Andrew, her first husband and father of her three children.
Mary Jane had a strong Christian faith and a deep commitment to her family, choosing to put her family's needs above her own. Having an outgoing personality and a big heart for people, Mary Jane spent over forty years as a social worker, working with both children and the elderly. She went the extra mile when working with impoverished clients, spending her own money on food and clothing for them.
Mary Jane was a gifted pianist, and she shared her exceptional talent and love of music with her family, friends, church, and community. Not only was she the go-to accompanist for hundreds of family sing-alongs throughout her entire life but, for many years, she was a volunteer piano player at an adult day care facility in Orlando. Her sons, George and Steve, share their mother's love of music and carry on her tradition of playing the piano.
Mary Jane was also an exceptionally talented dancer. When they were growing up, she and her sisters, Dotty and Peggy, took dance lessons from the very best teachers in NYC. Her deceased daughter, Susan, also shared her love of dance. Mary Jane was a veritable Ginger Rogers, and her love of dance lives on in her younger sister, Dotty.
When Mary Jane retired in 1994, she was finally able to do some of the things she really enjoyed: going to water aerobics classes at the YMCA, dancing at the Marks Street Senior Center, volunteering more of her time at the College Park Methodist Church, and, as the quintessential fashionista, shopping. She had joie de vivre in abundance, and her fashion ensembles always exuded pure joy.
After Ted, her husband of 39 years, died, Mary Jane met and later married Joseph Muller, with whom she shared a love of music and dance. When Joseph died, Mary Jane, in the last decades of her life, was fortunate to meet a kindhearted, loving man, Ben Goldberg, who became her partner and constant companion.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her first husband, Ted Andrew, her second husband, Joseph Muller, her daughter, Susan Webb, her grandson, Robby Andrew, her sister, Peggy Jensen, and her brother, Robert Jensen. She is survived by her sister, Dotty Myhre, her partner, Ben Goldberg, her two sons, George Andrew (Theresa) and Steve Andrew (Colleen), her son-in-law, Jerry Webb, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Mary Jane was dearly loved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.
