Mary Esther Perez

Mary Esther Pérez, departed this world and earned her wings on March 6, 2024 at 5:10 pm in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years of age and resided in Casselberry, Florida with her daughter and her great-granddaughter.

She was born August 26, 1935 in New York City to Jesus Burgos and Isabel Rivera Burgos. She was the eldest of five children, Lucas "Lucky" Burgos (deceased), Peter "PeeWee" Burgos (deceased), Elizabeth "Liz" Burgos Rogers and Lydia Burgos Belardo.

She graduated from Gibbon High School in, Gibbon, Nebraska in 1953. She married Catalino Pérez (deceased) on February 25, 1961 in New York City. Together they raised her three children from a previous marriage, Luis Magdiel Romero (deceased), Rebecca Esther Romero Washington and David Romero. In 1962, she bore a son, her youngest, Victor Manuel Pérez.

Mary Esther and her family moved from New York to Paterson, New Jersey where they attended Iglesia Pentecostal La Gran Comision, pastored by Rev. Miquel Mena (deceased). There she led worship, directed the senior choir, taught Sunday School; she was even the leader of the women's group, Las Damas Auxiliares for a season.

She was a very active member of her church and, as a leader in her faith community, had responsibility over many key aspects of ministry—all while still managing to run a household and work a full-time job.

She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Rogers of Casselberry, Florida and Lydia Belardo of Altamonte Springs, Florida, her children Rebecca Washington of Casselberry, Florida, David Romero (spouse Marilyn) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Victor Perez (spouse Linda) of Los Angeles, California.

Also, her grandchildren, Lee, Raquel, Noah, Kizzy, Lucas Anthony, Matthew, Cameron, Max and Nicholas, Eighteen great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and 40 multi-generational nieces and nephews.
