Mel Trent Tivis Iii

Mel Trent Tivis, III was born in Kansas City, MO on 8 Jun 1959 to the late Maxine and Mel Tivis, II. Mel was enlisted into the Army in from 1978-1990. He moved to Orlando, FL in 1990 and began working at the Central Florida Reception Center. Mel attended Valencia Community College and University of Central Florida, and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, with a minor in Substance Abuse. He went on to began a Career with the Veterans Administration as A Peer Support Counselor until his retirement.

Mel leaves behind as he would say, his beautiful bride Maria Tivis; Four children Marcus Tivis (Kristy)Poughkeepsie, VA, Melanie Tivis,Orlando FL, Marlon Tivis(Jazmine) Indian Head Maryland and Chantle Tivis Fort Myers, Florida. Six sisters,: LaTonnia Jackson(Ronald Jackson), Tracey Hayes, Patrice Tivis, Jocelyn Tivis, Shirley Luton and Kim Glasgow, Kansas City.. Three grandchildren Jaydon, Justin, and Mackenzie Tivis in Indian Head Maryland. Three brother-in-laws Charles Gaither(Sharita) Orlando Florida Fred Gaither(Kimberly)Pooler Georgia and Ronald Jackson, Kansas City.

Mel is predeceased in death by his parents Maxine and Mel Tivis.
