Melida was born on December 7, 1930 in Arraijan, Panama. She was the first born child of Gertrudis and Miguel Romero. She had 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
She married Alfonso in 1971 and moved to the United States just before the birth of her 9th child. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, Roman Catholic, and Panamanian. She was a lover of music, poetry, art, family, and children. She loved caring for children. Aside from her own 9 children, she babysat several children in our community. She donated consistently to organizations that would help feed children in famine stricken areas of the world and her favorite charity was St. Jude's Hospital. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen since 1986. She was a lector and Eucharistic Minister in the Spanish mass until Alzheimer's incapacitated her 13 years ago. She was also a proud member of the Lay Order of the Carmelites.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Alfonso Adorno, her 9 children- Vielza, Diana, Olmedo, Larry, Ronnie, Mary, Marco, Rebecca, and Matilde, her 15 grandchildren , 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild on the way, her 3 sisters- Elsa, Carolina, and Mayra. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents- Miguel and Gertrudis Romero, her brothers Jorge, Balbino, y Miguel, and her sister Gladys.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, Florida 32750. The funeral mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood St, Orlando, FL 32801.
