Melinda Ann Young

March 24, 1962 — April 22, 2022

Melinda Ann Young was born on March 24, 1962 in Orlando, FL. At the age of 60, she passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elster Clinton Elkins and Ruth Evelyn Elkins. She is survived by her daughter, Katrina Michele Whitacre, son, Clinton Alan Nipper, grandchildren, Katlyn Ashley Tapia, Alexis Nicole Whitacre, Brooklyn Emily Whitacre, and Sidney Marie Nipper, and son-in-law, Joseph F. Whitacre.

Melinda worked at Consolidated for 30 years. She made many long time friends here. She was highly respected by her clients for her knowledge and attention to details. Which was reflected in her annual sales. She treated people the way she wanted to be treated, with respect and dignity. That same work ethic carried over into her personal life. She was genuine in everything she did.

Melinda is a wonderful Mother and an even better Nana. She loved her family and adored her four granddaughters more than life. She loved going on family vacations with Katrina, Katlyn, Alexis, Brooklyn, and Sidney. We would go at least once a year but she would always have something special every year for just the grandkids. It was always something by the water. Melinda loved to feel the Sunshine on her skin. Camping ( Glamping is what we called it) was one of our favorite times because we spent the every weekend together for that whole month at least three times a year. We have gone to different beaches and lakes, the mountains and cruises. The adventures we shared is something we will carry forever.

Melinda had a joy for life. She was so funny and witty. She was always cracking a joke and making people laugh. She loved being able to hang out on the porch by herself with her dogs, Jack and Sam or with her friends. She moved in February of 2022 and was enjoying her new house and land and able to see the stars at night. She had wanted that for so long.

Melinda was very crafty, she painted rocks and put them all over town for people to find. There was always something new that she would come up with or make. She would always get us to make the crafts or paint canvases. It was never about what we did it was just being able to do it together. She will be truly missed.
