Michael James Kwas, of Lake Mary, Florida, went home to the Lord on April 28, 2023.
Michael was born on January 6, 1965 in Allen Park, Michigan. As a young boy, he grew up in the Chicago area, and spent his high school and college years in Plano, Texas before moving to Lake Mary, Florida as a young man.
Rather than list his college and professional life, I wanted to share about Michael's love for sports. He was an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Cowboys, and Baylor Bears. Although these were his favorites, Michael loved all sports and often found common ground with strangers by relating to their favorite teams.
Michael was predeceased by his father Joesph Kwas, his mother Catherine Kwas, and younger brother Kevin Kwas. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen Kwas; stepson, Derek Bonilla and his wife Victoria; older brother Keith Kwas; twin brother Mark Kwas and his wife Marta, their children Anna and Matthew; sister-in-law Gigi Kwas and her children Kaitlyn Kwas, Ryan Mullins, and Kristen Hufford; Aunt Helen Lehman and husband Roger; Uncle James (Jimmy) Lehman and wife Serena; Aunt Cheryl Butkovich and husband Ron, Aunt Carol Higgins and husband Bob, and many beloved cousins.
Michael attended Wekiva Assembly (now One Church) in Longwood, Florida and The Gathering Place in Sanford, Florida.
A celebration of Life service will be held on May 20, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral, 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, Florida 32750. The service will be livestreamed. The service will be held at 1 p.m., with a gathering of family and friends between 12–1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Advant Health Hospice Care, 605 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, Florida, 32714. They were incredibly kind and loving during Michael's time with them, and his beloved mother, Catherine.
