Michael Shannon McCarthy, age 54, of Oviedo, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home in Oviedo.
Mike was born on November 10, 1966 in Louisville, KY, son of James McCarthy and the late Loretta (Perry) Urevick. On March 11, 1995, he married the former Staci Currie. Mike worked as a union painter for Local 1010, District Council 78. He enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, fishing, and in his younger years, surfing. Most recently, he was an avid guitarist, in his own right, and continued his love of painting while at home. He was a loving father and devoted husband.
Besides his wife of over 25 years, Staci; he is survived by his daughter, Tara McCarthy of Oviedo; his father, James McCarthy of Lawrenceburg, KY; two sisters, Deborah Sims, and Melanie Tabora, both of Oviedo; and a brother, Robert McCarthy and his wife, Michelle, of Oviedo.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 7 pm at Center Lake Park in the Cultural Center, 229 Center Lake Ln, Oviedo. The family will gather and visit with friends from 6 pm – 8pm.
