Mildred Martinez

March 5, 1971 — April 27, 2023

On Thursday April 27, 2023, our beautiful Mildred Martinez, 52, went peacefully to be with our Lord. Though we all rejoice that Mildred is no longer in pain we will feel her absence here on earth.

Mildred Martinez was born on March 5th 1971 in Manati, Puerto Rico.

She leaves behind her parents, Rafael Rivera and Hilda Liz Castillo, and her two sons, Alexander and Michael Torres. She had two sisters, Carmen and Edna Martinez; one brother, Jose Rivera. Mildred had two granddaughters Giada and Emelina Torres, who Mildred called her Princesses.

Mildred's love of God, followed by the love of her family, were the two most important things. Mildred was a strong, devoted, and loving mother to her two sons. She enjoyed raising them and she ensured that they knew the love of God and instilled in them to always love Christ our Lord over all things.

In the early 90's Mildred received her Nursing Assistant Certification and dedicated her career to working with the elderly. Looking towards the future she decided to further her career and become a Registered Medical Assistant. She was eager to start her new career as soon as her battle with cancer was over.

She adored reading her Bible and listening to preachings. She loved to shop for hours and drink coffee, her favorite dessert was cheesecake and flan. Never satisfied with store bought sofrito (a hispanic seasoning), Mildred always loved making her own homemade sofrito. This was something that became a staple while she went through her healing journey.

Nonetheless, Mildred's legacy in the world will be the countless lives she touched. Whether it be her years serving as a youth pastor in Massachusetts, or as part of the children's ministry, someone was touched by her love and faith. Always with an ear to listen with, a shoulder to cry on, words of wisdom, or just to give you a hug that would never end, she was the vessel used by God to impact us all. 'Till the very end, Mildred never let go of her faith, always believing and trusting God's plan. In the process still teaching us all to never lose faith.

Now that she has gone to be with the Lord, her family invites you to say, "till we meet again."

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church at Mision La Cosecha Orlando Campus, 1732 N. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, with Pastor Jorge Laboy officiating.

We will have a small service starting at 12pm celebrating Mildred's life. Interment will follow immediately afterwards and will leave from the church to Evergreen Cemetery at 150 S Cypress Way, Casselberry, FL 32707
